Verse 31

सुग्रीवाऽन्तिकमासेदुः सादयिष्याम इत्यरिम् । करिष्यन्त इवाऽकस्माद्भुवनं निर्-दशाननम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: They reached the vicinity of Sugriva, (with the intention) 'We shall dissipate the enemy', and as if suddenly bent upon rendering the world bereft of Ravana.

Verse 32

कर्ताऽस्मि कार्यमायातैरेभिरित्यवगम्य सः । काकुत्स्थ-पादप-च्छायां सीत-स्पर्शामुपागमत् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Feeling, I shall accomplish the task with these that have arrived he (Sugriva) reached the shadow of the tree in the form of Rama, cool to the touch.

Verse 33

कार्यं सार-निभं दृष्ट्वा वानराणां समागमम् ।अवैन्नाशं दशाऽऽस्यस्य निर्वृत्तमिव राघवः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Having seen the concourse of the monkeys, Raghava felt that the task resembling (constituting) the quintessence (i.e., the recovery of Sita) by the destruction of Ravana was as good as accomplished.

Verse 34

ततः कपि-समाहारमेऽकनिश्चायमागतम् ।उपाध्यायऽइवाऽऽयामं सुग्रीवोऽध्यापिपद्दिशाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Then, he (Sugriva) explained to the monkey congre gation (the distribution of) the expanse of the quarters that had turned into a single mass.

Verse 35

स-जलाऽम्भो-द-संरावं हनु-मन्तं सहाऽङ्गदम् । जाम्बवं नील-सहितं चारु-सन्द्रावमब्रवीत् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Then he spoke to Hanuman, whose thunder was like that of a cloud full of water and who was (sitting) with Aigada, and Jambavan whose fight was charming and who was sitting with Nila.

Verse 36

"यात यूयं यम-श्रायं दिशं नायेन दिक्षणाम् । विक्षावस्तोय-विश्रावं तर्जयन्तो महोदधेः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: "You go by means of expedients towards the southern direction, the abode of Yama, (you) subduing the watery thunder of the clouds with your cries.

Verse 37

उन्नायानधिगच्छन्तः प्रद्रावैर्वसुधा-भृताम् । वनाऽभिलावान्कुर्वन्तः स्वेच्छया चारु-विक्रमाः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Oh (monkeys) of excellent valour, knowing (ascending with quick flights) the elevations of the mountains (and) executing the destruction of the forests at your (sweet) will;

Verse 38

सदोद्गार-सुगन्धीनां फलानामलमाशिताः ।उत्कारेषु च धान्यानामनभीष्ट-परिग्रहाः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: — featers to the fill of the fruits that are ever fragrant during eructations, but not desiring consumption of heaps of corn;

Verse 39

संस्तावमिव शृण्वन्तश्छन्दोगानां महाध्वरे । शिञ्जितं मधु-लेहानां पुष्प-प्रस्तार-शायिनाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: — listening to the humming of the bees resting on fower-couches, the humming resembling praises sung in chorus by Saman-singers during a great sacrifice;

Verse 40

आलोचयन्तो विस्तारमम्भसां दक्षिणोदधेः । स्वादयन्तः फल-रसं मुष्टि-संग्राह-पीडितम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: — observing the expanse of the waters of the Southern Ocean, tasting the fruit-juice squeezed out by the pressure of the fists;
