Verse 21

स्पृहयालुं कपिं स्त्रीभ्यो निद्रालुम-दयालु-वत् । श्रद्धालुं भ्रामरं धारुं सद्रुमद्रौ वद द्रुतम्।" ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: "Like a merciless person, quickly speak to Sugriva, doting upon women, sleepy, addicted to honey, a drunkard, resting happily on the mountain."

Verse 22

सृमरो भङ्गुर-प्रज्ञो गृहीत्वा भासुरं धनुः । विदुरो जित्वरः प्राप लक्ष्मणो गत्वरान्कपीन् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Having taken up his lustrous bow Laksmana, a fast walker, knowledgeable about the self-destroying, very wise, bent upon victory, reached the ever-moving monkeys.

Verse 23

तं जागरूकः कार्येषु दन्दशूक-रिपुं कपिः ।अ-कम्प्रं मारुतिर्दीप्रं नम्रः प्रावेशयद्गुहाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The modest monkey, Maruti, ever vigilant about (his) tasks, ushered into the cave that radiant and unshakable enemy of the demons (Laksmana).

Verse 24

कम्राभिरावृतः स्त्रीभिराशंसुः क्षेममात्मनः ।इच्छुः प्रसादं प्रणयन्सुग्रीवः प्रावदन्नृपम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Surrounded by lovely ladies, desirous of his own security and coveting (his) favour, Sugriva spoke to the King (Laksmana) :

Verse 25

"अहं स्वप्नक्प्रसादेन तव वन्दारुभिः सह ।अ-भीरुरवसं स्त्रीभिर्भासुराभिरीहेश्वरः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘‘Sleepy (and) fearless, I, the lord, stayed here along with doting and radiant ladies, through your favour.

Verse 26

विद्यन्-नाशं रवेर्भासं विभ्राजं शश-लाञ्छनम् । राम-प्रत्तेषु भोगेषु नाहमज्ञासिषं रतः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Engrossed in the enjoyments provided by (the favour of Rama, I did not notice the disappearance of the lightning fashes, the lustre of the sun and the well-shining moon.

Verse 27

एष शोक-च्छिदो वीरान्प्रभो ! सम्प्रति वानरान् । धरा-शैल-समुद्राणामन्त-गान्प्रहिणोम्यहम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Here (and) now, do I dispatch, (my) lord, brave monkeys, destroyers of (Rama's) grief and traversing to the end of the earth, mountains and oceans.

Verse 28

राघवस्य ततः कार्यं कारुर्वानर-पुङ्गवः । सर्व-वानर-सेनानामाश्वागमनमादिशत् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Then, bent upon accomplishing the task of Rama, the mighty monkey ordered the immediate arrival of all the monkey troops.

Verse 29

"वयमद्यैव गच्छामो रामं द्रष्टुं त्वराऽन्विताः । कारका मित्र-कार्याणि सीता-लाभाय" सोऽब्रवीत्।" ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: He said, "Today itself shall go in (all) haste, we the fulfillers of (our) friend's object to see Rama for the sake of the recovery of Sta."

Verse 30

ततः कपीनां संघाता हर्षाद्राघव-भूतये । पूरयन्तः समाजग्मुर्भय-दाया दिशो दश ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Then pervading the ten quarters and determined to infuse fear, companies of monkeys assembled together in joy, for the sake of the prosperity of Rama.
