Verse 41

जरित्वेव जवेनाऽन्ये निपेतुस्तस्य शाखिनः । व्रश्चित्वा विवशानन्यान्बलेनाऽपातयत्तरून् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Some trees fell down on account of his speed, as if they had grown old; after cutting them (uprooting them), he pulled down other trees (that had become supportless.

Verse 42

दमित्वाऽप्यरि-संघातानश्रान्त्वा कपि-केशरी । वनं चचार कर्तिष्यन्नर्त्स्यन्निव निरङ्कुशः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Not having been tired even after having subdued hosts of enemies, the lion of a monkey roamed about in the forest humming as if having a desire to dance.

Verse 43

पारं जिगमिषन्सोऽथ पुनरावर्त्स्यतां द्विषाम् । मत्त-द्विरद-वद्रेमे वने लङ्का-निवासिनाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Now, desiring to exterminate (lit. reach the end of) the enemy who were about to return again, he romped like a rutting elephant in the grove of the people of Lanka.

Verse 44

"यद्यकल्प्स्यदभिप्रायो योद्धुं रक्षः-पतेः स्वयम् । तमप्यकर्त्स्यमद्याऽहं" वदन्नित्यचरत्कपिः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The monkey wandered about saying to (himself), “If any intention to fight (by) himself shall occur the Lord of the demons, I shall nip that (idea) too today.

Verse 45

"हते तस्मिन्प्रियं श्रुत्वा कल्प्ता प्रीतिं परां प्रभुः । तोषोऽद्यैव च सीतायाः परश्चेतसि कल्प्स्यति।" ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: He (Ravana) being killed, lord (Rama) on hearing the happy news, will attain great delight; and the highest joy will arise in the mind of Sita, today itself."

Verse 46

आहूय रावणोऽवोचदथेन्द्रजितमन्तिकात् । "वने मत्त इव क्रुद्धो गजेन्द्रः प्रधनेष्वटन् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Thereafter having called (Indrajit) to his presence, Ravana spoke to him ! "You roaming about in battles like a rutting elephant in the forest, you in battles,

Verse 47

ययाथ त्वं द्विषामन्तं भूयो यातासि चाऽसकृत् । शशक्थ जेतुं त्वं देवान्मायाः सस्मर्थ संयति ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: —"have reached the end (destruction) of the enemies and will achieve that more than once. You could vanquish the gods in battle by having remembered illusory magic.

Verse 48

त्वं ससर्जिथ शस्त्राणि दद्रष्ठाऽरींश्च दुःसहान् । शस्त्रैरादिथ शस्त्राणि त्वमेव महतामपि ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘‘You discharged weapons and confronted irresistible enemies; with your weapons, you eclipsed the weapons of even the great.

Verse 49

स त्वं हनिष्यन्दुर्-बुद्धिं कपिं व्रज ममाऽऽज्ञया । मा नाऽञ्जी राक्षसीर्मायाः प्रस्तावीर्मा न विक्रमम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: "That you (shall now) go, by my command, to kill that evil-minded monkey. Not that you should not exhibit the demonic magic and not commence your valour ;

Verse 50

मा न सावीर्महाऽस्त्राणि मा न धावीररिं रणे । वानरं मा न संयंसीर्व्रज तूर्णमशङ्कितः।" ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: --"And do not avoid discharging mighty missiles; do not refrain from harassing the enemy in the fight; do not avoid to capture the monkey; go quickly and undaunted.”
