Verse 21

तेषां निहन्यमानानां संघुष्टैः कर्ण-भेदिभिः ।अभूदभ्यमित-त्रासमास्वान्ताऽशेष-दिग्जगत् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: On account of the ear-rending screams of the demons that were being slain, the world, one and all of whose quarters reverberated (with noise), became afficted with fear.

Verse 22

भय-संहृष्ट-रोमाणस्ततस्तेऽपचित-द्विषः । क्षणेन क्षीण-विक्रान्ताः कपिनाऽनेषत क्षयम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Thereafter, those enemies of the revered (sages) whose hair had horripilated through fear and (whose) valour was destroyed, were brought to annihilation within a moment.

Verse 23

हत्वा रक्षांसि लवितुमक्रमीन्मारुतिः पुनः ।अशोकवनिकामेव निगृहीताऽरि-शासनः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Having killed the demons, Maruti, who disregarded the command of his enemy, again proceeded to pull down the selfsame Asoka grove.

Verse 24

आवरीतुमिवाऽऽकाशं वरितुं वीनिवोत्थितम् । वनं प्रभञ्जन-सुतो नाऽदयिष्ट विनाशयन् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Completely devastating the (Asoka) grove which had risen high as if to cover the sky and as though to solicit the birds the Son of the (devastating) Wind God did not take (any) pity.

Verse 25

वरिषीष्ट शिवं क्षिप्यन्मैथिल्याः कल्प-शाखिनः । प्रावारिषुरिव क्षोणीं क्षिप्ता वृक्षाः समन्ततः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Hurling the wish-yielding trees, he solicited the well being of Sta, and scattered, all around, the trees, (which), as it were, covered the whole earth.

Verse 26

संवुवूर्षुः स्वमाकूतमाज्ञां विवरिषुर्द्रुतम् ।अवरिष्टाक्षम-क्षम्यं कपिं हन्तुं दषाननः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Desirous of concealing his own agitation (and) intent upon exhibiting his (sovereign) command, Ravana, hastily selected the irresistible Aksa for killing the monkey.

Verse 27

ऊचे-"संवरिषीष्ठास्त्वं गच्छ शत्रोः पराक्रमम् । ध्वृषीष्ठा युधि मायाभिः स्वरिता शत्रु-सम्मुखम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: He said, 'Go and overwhelm the enemy's valour ; torturing the enemy in front, fight deceitfully with the help of illusory tricks (at the back)

Verse 28

द्रुतं संस्वरिषीष्ठास्त्वं निर्-भयः प्रधनोत्तमे" । स मायानामगात्सोता कपेर्विधवितुं द्युतिम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘‘Fearless, in an excellent battle, you shout loud (or torture) and that speedily. " That producer of illusions (phantoms) went to kill (destroy) the monkey's lustre.

Verse 29

विगाढाऽरं वनस्याऽसौ शत्रूणां गाहिता कपिः ।अक्षं रधितुमारेभे रद्धा लङ्काऽनिवासिनाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: That monkey, the shatterer of the grove, the annihi lator of the enemies, and the killer of Lanka-dwellers, quickly proceeded to ruin Aksa.

Verse 30

निष्कोषितव्यान्निष्कोष्टुं प्राणान्दशमुखाऽऽत्मजात् ।आदाय परिघं तस्थौ वनान्निष्कुषित-द्रुमः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Taking his iron club, he who had uprooted the trees from the grove, stood up for dragging out from the son of Ravana (his) life-breaths which deserved to be forced out.
