Verse 91

विषसादेन्द्रजिद्बुद्ध्वा बन्धे बन्धाऽन्तरक्रियाम् । दिव्य-बन्धो विषहते नाऽपरं बन्धनं यतः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: On learning about the act of an additional binding over the (original) binding, Indrajit got depressed, for (he knew) that a divine bondage would not brook another fetter.

Verse 92

मुष्णन्तमिव तेजांसि विस्तीर्णोरस्-स्थलं पुरः ।उपसेदुर्दश-ग्रीवं गृहीत्वा राक्षसाः कपिम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Having put the monkey in front, the demons reached Ravana (who was lustrous) as though robbing the lustres (of luminaries) and having an expansive broad chest.

Verse 93

बहुधा भिन्न-मर्माणो भीमाः खरणसाऽऽदयः ।अग्रे-वणं वर्तमाने प्रतीच्यां चन्द्र-मण्डले ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: With the moon's orb standing on the outskirts of the grove, in the west the terrific (demons), donkey-nosed and others, whose vitals were variously injured,

Verse 94

"निर्वणं कृतमुद्यानमनेनाऽऽम्रवणाऽऽदिभिः । देवदारु-वनामिश्रै" रित्यूचुर्वानर-द्विषः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: —the enemies of the monkey spoke thus : The garden full of mango groves interspersed with Deodar (oak) groves is rendered devoid of trees by this one.'

Verse 95

उपास्थिषत संप्रीताः पूर्वाह्णे रोष-वाहणम् । राक्षसाः कपिमादाय पतिं रुधिर-पायिणाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Having taken the monkey, the highly delighted demons waited, in the forenoon, upon the lord of the blood. drinking (demons) who was entertaining wrath.

Verse 96

सुरा-पाण-परिक्षीबं रिपु-दर्प-हरोदयम् । पर-स्त्री-वाहिनं प्रायुः साऽऽविष्कारं सुरा-पिणः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Full of egotism, the associates of drunkards, arrived near him, intoxicated by drinking wine, whose prosperity dispelled the enemies' pride and who kidnapped others' wives.

Verse 97

संघर्ष-योगिणः पदौ प्रणेमुस्त्रिदश-द्विषः । प्रहिण्वन्तो हनूमन्तं प्रमीणन्तं द्विषन्-मतीः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Escorting Hanuman, who outdid the intellect of the enemies, they bowed down at the feet of the enemy of the gods who was ever engaged in conflict.

Verse 98

"प्रवपाणि शिरो भूमौ वानरस्य वनच्छिदः" ।आमन्त्रयत संक्रुद्धः समितिं रक्षसां पतिः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The highly enraged lord of the demons addressed the assembly thus : “I shall (cut and) throw on the ground the head of the monkey, the devastator of the grove."

Verse 99

प्रण्यगादीत्प्रणिघ्नन्तं घनः प्रणिनदन्निव । ततः प्रणिहितः स्वाऽर्थे राक्षसेन्द्रं विभीषणः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Then prompted by self-interest, Vibhisana, like a thundering cloud, remonstrated to the lord of the demons (Ravana) (who was) about to kill (Hanuman), (and said as follows).

Verse 100

"प्रणिशाम्य दशा-ग्रीव ! प्रणियातुमलं रुषम् । प्रणिजानीहि हन्यन्ते दूता दोषे न सत्यपि।" ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Be calm, Ravana ; enough of getting enraged. Understand well that messengers (emissaries) are never killed even if a crime be (committed by them)."
