Verse 101

प्राणयन्तमरिं प्रोचे राक्षसेन्द्रो विभीषणम् । "प्राणिणिषुर्न पापोऽयं योऽभाङ्क्षीत्प्रमदा-वनम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The lord of the demons spoke to Vibhisapa who was desirous of saving the enemy's life, ‘This sinner who devastated the ladies' grove could not be desirous of living.

Verse 102

प्राघानिषत रक्षांसि येनाऽऽप्तानि वने मम । न प्रहण्मः कथं पापं वद पूर्वाऽपकारिणम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘‘Say, how shall not kill this killer who wronged (me) first (and) by whom were slain, in the grovemy well wishing demons ?

Verse 103

वेश्माऽन्तर्-हणनं कोपान्मम शत्रोः करिष्यतः । मा कार्षीरऽन्तरयणं प्रयाणाऽर्हमवेह्यमुम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Do not create an obstacle for me who, through anger, will execute the enemy's spy (who has arrived) within the house. Know him to be fit for the last journey.

Verse 104

प्रहीण-जीवितं कुर्युर्ये न शत्रुमुपस्थितम् । न्याय्याया अपि ते लक्ष्म्याः कुर्वन्त्याशु प्रहापणम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Those that do not render an enemy, that has arrived (by himself), devoid of his life, practise hastily the repudiation of riches, though (it be) justly (acquired).

Verse 105

कः कृत्वा रावणाऽऽमर्ष-प्रकोपणमवद्य-धीः । शक्तो जगति शाक्रोऽपि कर्तुमायुः-प्रगोपणम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Having aroused excessively the intolerance of Ravana, who, (be he even Indra, is capable in this world of the protection of his life ?

Verse 106

वनाऽन्त-प्रेङ्खणः पापः फलानां परिणिंसकः । प्रणिक्षिष्यति नो भूयः प्रणिन्द्याऽस्मान्मधून्ययम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Moving about freely on the outskirts of the grove, that sinful one, the sucker of fruits, will never again touch the copious honey, after having trilled with us.

Verse 107

हरेः प्रगमनं नाऽस्ति न प्रभानं हिम-द्रुहः । नाऽति-प्रवेपनं वायोर्मया गोपायिते वने ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘In the grove protected by me, there is no entry for Hari (Indra, vispu, Moon or monkey), no shining of the sun, nor any excessive blowing of the wind.

Verse 108

दुष्पानः पुनरेतेन कपिना भृङ्ग-संभृतः । प्रनष्ट-विनयेनाऽग्र्यः स्वादुः पुष्पाऽऽसवो वने" ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Difficult to be drunk in the grove, by this monkey whose modesty has ended, will the top-quality, delicious honey be collected by the bees from the flowers."

Verse 109

रोष-भीम-मुखेनैवं क्षुभ्नतोक्ते प्लवङ्गमः । प्रोचे साऽऽनुनयं वाक्यं रावणं स्वाऽर्थ-सिद्धये ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: This having been said by him whose face was terrific on account of anger, and who was getting agitated, the monkey, addressed a speech full of conciliation for the fulfilment of his own objective.

Verse 110

"दूतमेकं कपिं बद्धमानीतं वेश्म पश्यतः । लोक-त्रय-पतेः क्रोधः कथं तृण-लघुस्तव ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: How (arises) this wrath, as insignificant as a grass-blade, of yours, (who are) the lord of the three worlds, on seeing a single monkey, an emissary, bound down and brought (before you) ?
