Verse 121

अभिमान-फलं जानन्महत्त्वं कथमुक्तवान् । रत्नाऽऽदि-लाभ-शून्य-त्वान्निष्फलं राम-विग्रहम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Having known that greatness ( has ) pride for its fruit, how is it that you called the enmity with Rama (as) fruitless in the absence of the acquisition of jewels and other things ?

Verse 122

पर-स्त्री-भोग-हरणं धर्म एव नराऽशिनाम् । मुखमस्तीत्यभाषिष्ठाः का ? मेसाऽऽशङ्कता त्वयि ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Enjoyment and abduction of others' wives is the very duty of cannibals. You spoke (just) because you had a mouth. What apprehensiveness (can there be) of mine about you ?

Verse 123

ब्रूहि दूर-विभिन्नानामृद्धि-शील-क्रियाऽन्वयैः। । हनूमन् ! कीदृशं ? सख्यं नर-वानर-रक्षसाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘Say, Hanuman, what sort of alliance (is possible) amongst men, monkeys and demons who are far removed ( from one another ) in prosperity, character, behaviour and race ?

Verse 124

एको द्वाभ्यां विराधस्तु जिताभ्याम-विवक्षितः । हतश्छलेन मूढोऽयं तेनाऽपि तव कः ? स्मयः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: And what (is this) wonderful (statement) of yours, just on account of ( the fact ) that the lonely, untalked of (little known) and foolish Viradha was slain by a ruse by the two (together) who were already vanquished ?

Verse 125

मन्-नियोगाच्च मारीचः पलायन-परायणः । युयुत्सा-रहितो रामं ममाराऽपहरन्वने ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: And, it was at my command that, devoid of the will to fight, Marica whose only resort was running away, died in the forest, (while) decoying Rama.

Verse 126

निजघानाऽन्य-संसक्तं सत्यं रामो लता-मृगम् । त्वमेव ब्रूहि संचिन्त्य युक्तं तन्महतां यदि ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: In fact, Rama killed the monkey who was engaged in fight with someone else. Say after pondering deeply, whether it is worthy of great ones ?

Verse 127

पुंसा भक्ष्येण बन्धूनामात्मानं रक्षितुं वधः । क्षमिष्यते दशाऽऽस्येन क्व-त्येयं तव दुर्-मतिः।" ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: "Whence this misconception of yours that the slaughter (may be ) for protecting himself, or of his relatives, by a human being fit to be eaten (by them), will be brooked by Ravana.

Verse 128

कपिर्जगाद-"दूतोऽहमुपायं तव दर्शने । द्रुम-राक्षस-विध्वंसमकार्षं बुद्धि-पूर्वकम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The monkey said, "TI, (as) an emissary, deliberately brought about the destruction of the trees and the demons (as) a means for your interview.

Verse 129

आ-त्रिकूटमकार्षुर्ये त्वत्-का निर्-जङ्गमं जगत् । दशग्रीव ! कथं ब्रूषे ? तान-वध्याम्मही-पतेः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘‘Oh Ravana, how do you call those (kinsmen) of yours, who rendered the whole earth (right) upto the Trikuta (mountain) devoid of (all) moving beings, were not fit to be killed by a king, (who is the lord of the earth) ?

Verse 130

अभिमान-फलं प्रोक्तं यत्त्वया राम-विग्रहे । विनेशुस्तेन शत-शः कुलान्यसुर-रक्षसाम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: On account of that (greatness) which you menti oned as (bearing) the fruit of pride, with reference to the conflict with Rama, the families of Asuras and Raksasas have perished by the hundreds !
