Verse 31
सम्पातिना प्रजङ्घस्तु युयुधेऽसौ द्रुमाहतः । चकम्पे तीव चुक्रोश जीवनाशं ननाश च ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Prajaigha, however, fought Sampati; hit with a tree, he was shaken, cried excessively and so perished as to lose his life.

Verse 32
उच्चख्नाते नलेनाऽऽजौ स्फुरत्-प्रतपनाऽक्षिणी । जम्बुमाली जहौ प्राणान्ग्राव्णा मारुतिना हतः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: By Nala were dug out both the sparkling eyes of Pratapana ; hit with a boulder by Maruti, Jambumali laid down his (life-)breaths.

Verse 33
मित्रिघ्नस्य प्रचुक्षोद गदयाऽङ्गं विभीषणः। । सुग्रीवः प्रघसं नेभे बहून्रामस्ततर्द च ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Of Mitraghna, Vibhisana pounded the body with a mace; Sugriva killed Praghasa and Rama killed very many.

Verse 34
वज्रमुष्टेर्विशिश्लेष मैन्देनाऽभिहतं शिरः । नीलश्चकर्त चक्रेण निकुम्भस्य शिरः स्फुरत् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Vajramusti's head, battered by Mainda, got severed. Nila, sawed off with a dise the throbbing head of Nikumbha.

Verse 35
विरूपाक्षो जहे प्राणैस्तृढः सौमित्रि-पत्रिभिः । प्रमोचयांचकाराऽसून्द्विविदस्त्वशनि-प्रभम् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Pierced by Laksmana's arrows, Virupaksa was aban- doned by (his) life-breaths. Dvivida caused life-breaths to be given up by Asaniprabha.

Verse 36
गदा शत्रु-जिता जिघ्ये तां प्रतीयेष वालि-जः । रथं ममन्थ स-हयं शाखिनाऽस्य ततोऽङ्गदः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: A mace was hurled by Indrajit ; the son of vali caught it. Thereafter Aigada, with a tree, battered his (Indrajits) chariot along with the horses.

Verse 37
तत्कर्म वालि-पुत्रस्य दृष्ट्वा विश्वं विसिष्मिये । संत्रेसू राक्षसाः सर्वे बहु मेने च राघवः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Having seen that deed of the son of Vali, the universe was wonderstruck, all the demons took fright and Raghava (Rama) held it in great esteem.

Verse 38
सुग्रीवो मुमुदे देवाः साध्वित्यूचुः सविस्मयाः । विभीषणोऽभितुष्टाव प्रशशंसुः प्लवङ्गमाः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Sugriva rejoiced, the gods, full of surprise, exclaimed, "Well done !' Vibhisana praised (him), and the monkeys applauded aloud.

Verse 39
ही चित्रं लक्ष्मणेनोदे रावणिश्च तिरोदधे । विचकार ततो रामः शरान्संतत्रसुर्द्विषः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: ‘‘Oh, wonder !' uttered by Laksmanpa and, Indrajit the son of Ravana, disappeared. Then Rama dispersed arrows ; the enemies took fright (felt distressed).

Verse 40
विभिन्ना जुघुरुर्घोरं जक्षुः क्रव्याऽशिनो हतान् । चुष्च्योत व्रणिनां रक्तं छिन्नाश्चेलुः क्षणं भुजाः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Injured, they screamed horridly ; carnivorous beasts devoured the slain ; the blood of the wounded trickled (down); severed arms throbbed for a moment.
