Verse 11
गजानां प्रददुः शारीन्कम्बलान्परितस्तरुः । तेनुः कक्षां ध्वजांश्चैव समुच्छिश्रियुरुच्छिखान् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: (They) loaded elephants with arms, spread over blankets, fastened belly-straps and hoisted banners with their flaps rising up.

Verse 12
विशिश्वासयिषांचक्रुरालिलिङ्गुश्च योषितः ।आजघ्नुर्मूर्ध्नि बालांश्च चुचुम्बुश्च सुत-प्रियाः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: (They) wished to create confidence in and embraced the young wives; and, fond of their sons, (they) smelt the children on their head and kissed them.

Verse 13
गम्भीर-वेदिनः संज्ञा गजा जगृहुरक्षताः । ववृधे शुशुभे चैषां मदो हृष्टैश्च पुप्लुवे ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: The elephants which could feel injuries, accepted the suggestions given without being hurt; and their ichor increased and glittered and, overjoyed, (they) jumped.

Verse 14
मृगाः प्रदक्षिणं सस्रुः शिवाः सम्यग्ववाशिरे ।अ-वामैः पुस्फुरे देहैः प्रसेदे चित्त-वृत्तिभिः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: The deer paraded rightward; jackals howled auspiciously; (their ) bodies throbbed and their mental dispositions were pleased.

Verse 15
प्राज्यमाञ्जिहिषांचक्रे प्रहस्तो रावणाऽऽज्ञया । द्वारं ररङ्घतुर्याम्य्ं महापार्श्व-महोदरौ ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: By the command of Ravana, Prahasta desired to march to the eastern gate. Mahaparsva and Mahodara appro ached the southern gate.

Verse 16
प्रययाविन्द्र-जित्प्रत्यगियाय स्वयमुत्तरम्। । सहध्यासिसिषांचक्रे विरूपाऽक्षः पुरोदरम् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Indrajit went to the western gate. (Ravana) himself proceeded to the northern gate. Virupaksa wished to remain at the centre of the city.

Verse 17
शुश्राव रामस्तत्सर्वं प्रतस्थे च स-सैनिकः । विस्फारयांचकाराऽस्त्रं बबन्धाऽथ च बाणधी ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Rama heard all that and started, accompanied by (his) soldiers ; then (he) stretched his bow and fastened two quivers.

Verse 18
ईक्षांचक्रेऽथ सौमित्रिमनुजज्ञे बलानि च । नमश्चकार देवेभ्यः पर्ण-तल्पं मुमोच च ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Now, Rama looked at Laksmana and ordered about (his) troops ; (he) saluted the gods and abandoned the leaf-bed.

Verse 19
चकासांचक्रुरुत्तस्थुर्नेदुरानशिरे दिशः । वानरा भूधरान्रेधुर्बभञ्जुश्च ततस्तरून् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Then the monkeys shone forth, got up, muttered, pervaded the quarters, dug out boulders and broke down trees.

Verse 20
ददाल भूर्नभो रक्तं गोष्पदप्रं ववर्ष च । मृगाः प्रससृपुर्वामं खगाश्चुकुविरेऽशुभम् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: The earth cracked up and a cows foot-printful of blood rained; deer proceeded leftwards and birds hooted inauspiciously.
