Verse 91

जगाद वानरान्पक्षी-"नाध्यगीढ्वं ध्रुवं स्मृतिम् । यूयं संकुटियुं यस्मात्कालेऽस्मिन्नध्यवस्यथ ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The bird spoke to the monkeys, You have certainly not studied the smrtis, for you resolve to get destroyed at this time.

Verse 92

नाऽयमुद्विजितुं कालः स्वामि-कार्याद्भवादृशाम् । हृत-भार्ये च्युते राज्याद्रामो पर्युत्सुके भृशम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘Fallen from the kingdom, Rama, whose wife has been kidnapped, who is excessively pining for Sita, -this is not the time for the like of you to shrink from the duty to the lord.

Verse 93

यत्नं प्रोर्णवितुं तूर्णं दिशं कुरुत दक्षिणाम् । प्रोर्णुवित्रीं दिवस्तत्र पुरीं द्रक्ष्यथ काञ्चनीम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: 'Quickly make efforts to explore the southern direction. Therein you will perceive a golden city that tends to cover the sky;

Verse 94

लङ्कां नाम्ना गिरेर्मूर्ध्नि राक्षसेन्द्रेण पालिताम् । निर्जित्य शक्रमानीता ददृशुर्यां सुर-स्त्रियः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: —Lanka by name, protected by the lord of demons, in which the wives of gods were brought after defeating Indra ;

Verse 95

बभूव याऽधिशैलेन्द्रं मृदित्वेवेन्द्र-गोचरम् । कुषित्वा जगतां सारं सैका शङ्के कृता भुवि ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: —"which (originally) stood on the top of the mighty mountain (Sumeru), having pounded (surpassed) the kingdom (of heaven) under Indra. I presume that it is the only city constructed on the earth by extracting the essence of the world.

Verse 96

अ-मृडित्वा सहस्राऽक्षं क्लिशित्वा कौशलैर्निजैः ।उदित्वाऽलं चिरं यत्नात्सैका धात्रा विनिर्मिता ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: That is the only city built by the Creator with great efforts, by his own skills , after having made Indra unhappy, toiling hard and then saying enough.

Verse 97

मुषित्वा धन-दं पापो यां गृहीत्वाऽऽवसद्द्विषन् । तां रुदित्वेव शक्रेण यात लङ्कामुपेक्षिताम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: ‘‘Go to that Lanka, where, having seized it after robbing Kubera, the hateful sinner, Ravana, has stayed put and which has been, as it were , abandoned by Indra after having cried (over it).

Verse 98

विदित्वा शक्तिमात्मीयां रावणं विजिघृक्षवः ।उक्तं पिपृच्छिषूणां वो मा स्म भूत सुषुप्सवः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: I have told you who were desirous of asking. (Now) recognizing your own capacity, Oh (monkeys) who are desirous of fighting Ravana, do not be intent on sleeping (inattentive or idle)

Verse 99

नाऽविविदिषुम्भ्येति सम्पद्रुरुदिषुं नरम् । किं मुमुषिषु-वद्यात द्विषो नाऽपचिकीर्षया ॥

Karandikar: ‘‘Riches do not approach a man not desirous of learning and intent (only) on weeping. Why do you not go, desirous of robbing (him) and with a will to wrong (punish) the enemy ?

Verse 100

बुभुत्सवो द्रुतं सीतां भुत्सीध्वं प्रब्रवीमि वः । मा च भुद्ध्वं मृषोक्तं नः कृषीढ्वं स्वामिने हितं ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Desirous of apprehending Sita, do find her out quickly, I tell you. Do not regard ours as a false statement. Achieve the welfare of your lord.
