Verse 91
ऊहिरे मूर्ध्नि सिद्धार्था गावश्चाऽऽलेभिरे भटैः । प्रचुक्ष्णुवुर्महाऽस्त्राणि जिज्ञासांचक्रिरे हयान् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: White mustard grains were carried on the head and cows were touched by the warriors; they sharpened (their) mighty missiles and desired to test their horses.

Verse 92
ललुः खड्गान्ममार्जुश्च ममृजुश्च परश्वधान् । "अलंचक्रे समालेभे ववसे बुभुजे पपे ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: (They) picked up and polished (their) swords and cleaned (their ) axes. ( By the soldiers their own selves ) were decorated, anointed, clothed, fed and (drinks) were drunk.

जहसे च क्षणं यानैर्निर्जग्मे योद्धृभिस्ततः । विप्रान्प्रहस्त आनर्च जुहाव च विभावसुम् ॥

संवर्गयांचकाराऽऽप्तान्चन्दनेन लिलेप च । चचाम मधु मार्द्वीकं त्वक्-त्रं चाऽऽचकचे वरम् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: He honoured his well-wishing kinsmen, smeared ( himself ) with sandal paste, drank grape-wine and tied up (his) excellent coat of mail.

उष्णीषं मुमुचे चारु रथं च जुजुषे शुभम् ।आललम्बे महाऽस्त्राणि गन्तुं प्रववृते ततः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: He put on a nice turban, took to an auspicious chariot, caught hold of mighty missiles and then started to go.

Verse 96
आजघ्नुस्तूर्य-जातानि तुष्टुवुश्चाऽनुजीविनः । रजः प्रववृधे घोरं घोषश्च व्यानशे दिशः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: The dependants beat all sorts of drums and praised (him). Awful dust gathered up and sound pervaded the quarters.

Verse 97
तं यान्तं दुद्रुवुर्गृध्राः क्रव्यादश्च सिषेविरे ।आववुर्वायवो घोराः खादुल्काश्च प्रचक्षरुः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Vultures accompanied him and carnivorous animals attended him who was marching ahead; terrific winds blew and meteors shot down from the sky.

Verse 98
सस्यन्दे शोणितं व्योम रणाऽङ्गानि प्रजज्वलुः । रथाः प्रचस्खलुः साऽश्वा न ररंहाऽ-श्वकुञ्जरम् ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: The sky scattered blood ; the war instruments went up in flames; chariots skidded along with the horses and the troops of horses and elephants would not budge.

Verse 99
प्रतोदा जगलुर्वाममानञ्चुर्यज्ञिया मृगाः । ददाल भूः पुपूरे द्यौः कपीनामपि निःस्वनैः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: Whips slipped down; sacrificial beasts passed by the left; the earth split up; the sky was filled with the shouts of the monkeys too.

Verse 100
मिमेह रक्तं हस्त्यश्वं राक्षसाश्च नितिष्ठिवुः । ततः शुशुभतुः सेने निर्-दयं च प्रजह्रतुः ॥
Metre: अनुष्टुप्
Karandikar: The troops of elephants and horses made water (urinated) and the demons spat out blood. Then both the armies flashed and struck mercilessly.
