Verse 11

अध्वरेष्वग्निचित्वत्सु सोमसुत्वत आश्रमान् ।अत्तुं महेन्द्रियं भागमेति दुश्च्यवनोऽधुना ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: NowIndra visits the hermitages of Soma sacrificers for partaking of the portion offered to Mahendra in sacrifices which are attended upon by fireworshippers.

Verse 12

आमिक्षीयं दधि-क्षीरं पुरोडाश्यं तथौषधम् । हविर्हैयङ्गवीनं च नाऽप्युपघ्नन्ति राक्षसाः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The demons also do not destroy the milk and curds for amakathe (rice ) plant for (preparing the parodata, the oblation material and the fresh ghee.

Verse 13

युव-जानिर्धनुश्-पाणिर्भूमि-ष्ठः ख-विचारिणः । रामो यज्ञ-द्रुहो हन्ति काल-कल्प-शिलीमुखः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Rama who has a young wife, (and holds) a bow in (his) hand kills, standing on the ground, the sacrifice-hating (demons) with death-like arrows

Verse 14

मांसान्योष्ठाऽवलोप्यानि साधनीयानि देवताः ।अश्नन्ति रामाद्रक्षांसि बिभ्यश्रुवते दिशः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The deities eat lumps of (soft) meat meant as material (for sacrifice) and can be cut with the (the mere) lips ; the demons, afraid of Rama, eat the quarters (i.e., empty space) !

Verse 15

कुरु बुद्धिं कुशाऽग्रियामनुकामीन-तां त्यज । लक्ष्मीं परम्परीणां त्वं पुत्र-पौत्रीण-तां नय ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Make (your) intellect as sharp as the tip of the kuka grass; give up wantonness ; render your hereditary riches accessible to your sons and grandsons.

Verse 16

सहाय-वन्त उद्युक्ता बहवो निपुणाश्च याम् । श्रियमाशासते लोलां तां हस्ते-कृत्य मा श्वसीः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Do not rest idle having brought within (your) hands the fickle riches which many energetic and expert (kings) possessing aids covet.

Verse 17

लक्ष्मीः पुं-योगमाशंसुः कुलटेव कुतूहलात् ।अन्तिकेऽपि स्थिता पत्युश्छलेनाऽन्यं निरीक्षते ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Riches (Laksmi) though seated in the vicinity of her husband looks at another (man) under (some) pretext, like a prostitute, desirous of union with him, out of curiosity.

Verse 18

योषिद्-वृन्दारिका तस्य दयिता हंस-गामिनी । दूर्वा-काण्डमिव श्यामा न्यग्रोध-परिमण्डला ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: (Rama's) beloved wife is the most virtuous of young women, walking (gracefully) like a swan, slender like the stalk of dirva grass, and having a (broad) girth like that of a banyan tree.

Verse 19

नाऽऽस्यं पश्यति यस्तस्या निंस्ते दन्त-च्छदं न वा । संशृणोति न चोक्तानि मिथ्याऽऽसौ निहितेन्द्रियः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: He who neither beholds her face, nor kisses her lip, nor hears her remarks is endowed with senses in vain.

Verse 20

सारोऽसाविन्द्रियाऽर्थानां यस्याऽसौ तस्य नन्दथुः । तल्पे कान्ताऽन्तरैः सार्धं मन्येऽहं धिङ्निमज्जथुम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: She is the (very) essence of the objects of the senses; happiness is (only) his to whom she belongs ; plunging into the bed with any other lovely lady is, I think, despicable.
