Verse 101

धुन्वन्सर्व-पथीनं खे वितानं पक्षयोरसौ । मांस-शोणित-संदर्शं तुण्ड-घातमयुध्यत ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Flapping the expanse of his two wings that pervaded all the paths (in the sky), he fought striking with his beak and, (on being struck by Ravana with his sword), exposing to sight (his) flesh and blood.

Verse 102

न बिभाय न जिह्राय न चक्लाम न विव्यथे ।आघ्नानो विध्यमानो वा रणान्निववृते न च ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Though being ripped, he (while) trying to kill, neither feared, nor fought shy, nor got tired, nor felt pained and did not back out from the fight.

Verse 103

पिशाच-मुख-धौरेयं स-च्छत्र-कवचं रथम् । युधि कद्-रथ-वद्भीमंबभञ्ज ध्वज-शालिनम् ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: In the fight, he shattered, like a rickety chariot, the terrific chariot whose horses had the faces of demons, which carried an umbrella and a coat of arms, and which looked to advantage with its flag.

Verse 104

संत्रासयांचकाराऽरिं सुरान्पिप्राय पश्यतः । स त्याजयांचकाराऽरिं सीतां विंशति-बाहुना ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: He frightened the enemy, delighted the gods and then caused Sita to be abandoned by the twenty-armed (Ravana).

Verse 105

अ-सीतो रावणः कासांचक्रे शस्त्रैर्निराकुलः । भूयस्तं भेदिकांचक्रे नख-तुण्डाऽऽयुधः ख-गः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Devoid of Sita, Ravana, who was not distressed by (Jatayu's) weapons, began to curse; the bird whose nails and beak were (his weapons) again severely pierced him.

Verse 106

हन्तुं क्रोध-वशादीहांचक्राते तौ परस्पसम् । न वा पलायांचक्रे विर्दयांचक्रे न राक्षसः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The two, under the influence of wrath, wished to kill each other. Neither did the bird run away nor did the demon take pity (on him).

Verse 107

उपासांचक्रिरे द्रष्टुं देव-गन्धर्व-किन्नराः । छलेन पक्षौ लोलूयांचक्रे क्रव्यात्पतत्रिणः ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The gods, gandharvas and kinnaras stood to by watch; but the filesh-eater went on cutting off by deceit the wings of the bird.

Verse 108

प्रलुठितमवनौ विलोक्य कृत्तं दश-वदनः ख-चरोत्तमं प्रहृष्यन् । रथ-वरमधिरुह्य भीम-धुर्यं स्व-पुरमगात्परिगृह्य राम-कान्ताम् ॥

Metre: पुष्पिताग्रा

Karandikar: On seeing the best of birds shorn off and laid rolling on the ground, the ten-faced (Ravana) feeling highly delighted drove to his city (of Lanka), after ascending his excellent chariot yoked with ferocious horses and having tightly clutched the wife Rama.
