Verse 41

अथ सम्पततो भीमान्विशिखै राम-लक्ष्मणौ । बहु-मूर्ध्नो द्वि-मूर्धांश्च त्रि-मूर्धाश्चाऽहतां मृधे ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Later, in the battle, Rama and Laksmana killed, with (their) arrows, the terrific, assaulting (demons) who had many heads, two heads and three heads.

Verse 42

तैर्वृक्ण-रुग्ण-सम्भुग्न-क्षुण्ण-भिन्न-विपन्न-कैः। । निमग्नोद्विग्न-संह्रीणैः पप्रे दीनैश्च मेदिनी ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: The earth was covered (all over) by those miserable ones (who were) shattered, twisted, crushed, pierced and disabled (and who felt) depressed, frightened and ashamed.

Verse 43

के-चिद्वेपथुमासेदुरन्ये दवथुमुत्तमम् । स-रक्तं वमथुं केचिद्भ्राजथुं न च के-चन ॥

Metre: अनुष्टुप्

Karandikar: Some attained (experienced) tremor, others extreme agony, a few (began) vomitting blood, but none (attained) splendour.

Verse 44

मृगयुमिव मृगोऽथ दक्षिणेर्मा दिशमिव दाह-वतीं मरावुदन्यन् । रघु-तनयमुपाययौ त्रि-मूर्धो विशभृदिवोग्र-मुखं पतत्रि-राजम् ॥

Metre: पुष्पिताग्रा

Karandikar: Thereafter, (as if ) like a deer hurt in its right side approaching the hunter, like one thirsty in the desert running in the direction of a forest confiagration, like a snake running towards the lord of birds (Garuda) with his ferocious beak, the three headed demon (Trisiras) approached the scion of Raghus.

Verse 45

शित-विशिख-निकृत्तकृत्स्न-वक्त्रः क्षिति-भृदिव क्षिति-कम्प-कीर्ण-शृङ्गः । भयमुपनिदधे स राक्षसानाम-खिल-कुल-क्षय-पूर्व-लिङ्ग-तुल्यः ॥

Metre: पुष्पिताग्रा

Karandikar: (A moment later), Trisiras was standing there with all his heads cut off by sharp arrows, like a mountain whose peaks had been broken off by an earthquake, and as a warning about the imminent annihilation of the entire race and (as such) instilled terror in the demons.
