Moksha

Liberation from the cycle of birth and death

Moksha represents the ultimate goal of spiritual practice in Hindu philosophy - liberation from samsara, the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. It is the fourth and final goal of human life (purushartha) alongside dharma, artha, and kama.

This state transcends the limitations of material existence and individual ego. It represents the soul's reunion with the ultimate reality, whether conceived as Brahman, the infinite consciousness, or as divine union with a personal deity.

The paths to moksha are many: through knowledge (jnana), devotion (bhakti), disciplined action (karma yoga), or meditation (dhyana). Each tradition within Hinduism offers its own understanding of both the nature of moksha and the means to attain it.
