संभोजनी
नाम
पिशाचदक्षिणा;
सा
नैव
देवान्न
पितॄनुपैति
।
इहैव
सा
भ्राम्यति
क्षीणपुण्या;
शालान्तरे
गौरिव
नष्टवत्सा
॥
English Translation
That Brahmana who is destitute of Vedic study, is like a fire made by burning grass or straw; and becomes soon put out even like such a fire. The offerings inade at Shraddhas should not be given to him even as libations should not be poured on the ashes of the sacrificial fire.
