निर्वेदाद्देवतानां
च
प्रसादात्स
द्विजोत्तमः
।
वनं
प्रविश्य
सुमहत्तप
आरब्धवांस्तदा
॥
English Translation
Bhishma said as Cherishing a distaste for the world, and through the grace also of the gods, that foremost of Brahmanas entered the forest and began to practise the austerest of penances.
