Chapter 1.46 - Verse 22

Sanskrit Text

तस्मिन्प्रतिगते विप्रे छद्मनोपेत्य तक्षकः तं नृपं नृपतिश्रेष्ठ पितरं धार्मिकं तव

English Translation

When the Brahman went back, Takshaka went in disguise to that best of kings, your virtuous father, who was then staying with all precautions in his palace; and he burnt him with the fire of his poison. After this (most lamentable event,) you, O best of kings, were installed on the throne.
