Chapter 1.1 - Verse 165

Sanskrit Text

धर्मेण पृथिवीं जित्वा यज्ञैरिष्ट्वाप्तदक्षिणैः अस्मिँल्लोके यशः प्राप्य ततः कालवशं गताः

English Translation

Sanjaya said : From wise Narada and Vyasa you have heard, O king, of immensely powerful men, men of great exertions, men born of great royal dynasties, men full of great qualities, men wellversed in the art of using celestial weapons, men who, having conquered the world by righteous war and perforining sacrifices with proper offerings, obtained fame in this world and finally succumbed to death.
